WHAT WE OFFER
Complete HVAC Services in Mobile, AL
Mobile is Alabama’s port city, with historic neighborhoods, live oaks and some of the heaviest rainfall in the country. Mallard Air crosses the bay from Spanish Fort to serve Mobile homes, with 24/7 service.
Historic Homes, Modern Comfort
Mobile is Alabama’s only deep-water port and the second most populous city in the state. It’s home to the oldest organized Carnival celebration in the United States. Its historic districts, including Oakleigh Garden, De Tonti Square, Old Dauphin Way, Ashland Place, Midtown and Spring Hill, are full of homes built long before central air existed. Fitting modern heating and cooling into those houses takes care.
Older Houses Need a Custom Approach
In historic homes, high ceilings, plaster walls and limited attic or crawlspace room make running new ductwork difficult. We may suggest a ductless mini split for rooms the main system can’t reach, a smaller high-efficiency air handler that fits the available space, or ductwork repairs so cooled air actually reaches the rooms. When a historic home has been renovated in stages, we often find mismatched equipment and leaky duct joints, so we check the whole system before recommending changes.
Rain, Humidity and Your AC
A 2007 study named Mobile the wettest city in the contiguous United States by average annual rainfall. That moisture shows up indoors too. An AC system has to remove a lot of humidity, drain lines clog, and damp ducts can start to smell. Proper sizing, a clean coil, a clear condensate line and, in some homes, a whole-home dehumidifier keep the air drier and more comfortable.
Storm History
Hurricane Frederic passed directly over Mobile in 1979, and the city has since seen damage from Opal, Ivan and Katrina. On Christmas Day 2012, a tornado damaged or destroyed at least 100 structures in Midtown. After severe weather, check your outdoor unit for debris and water damage before restarting. If it’s been underwater, call us first.

Mobile AC and heating questions
Why does my AC freeze up during Mobile’s humid summers?
When a filter or coil is dirty, or the blower is weak, the coil gets too cold and humidity turns to ice. Low refrigerant does the same. Turn cooling off, leave the fan on to thaw it, swap the filter, and call us if it freezes again.
My AC keeps tripping the breaker. Is it safe to reset it?
One reset is okay. If it trips again, leave it off. Repeated trips usually point to a failing compressor, a shorted fan motor, or a bad capacitor, and resetting it over and over can make the damage worse.
Can an older AC system in my Mobile house or rental still be repaired?
Often, yes. If parts for an older unit are hard to find, we’ll tell you plainly and walk through repair and replacement options.
