From Lumber Camp to Growing Suburb

Loxley started as a lumber camp in 1870, set up by John Loxley of Chicago. The railroad depot came in 1906, and the town incorporated in 1957. Today, with I-10 Exit 44 at the north end of town and US-90 running through the center, Loxley sits almost exactly between Mobile and Pensacola. It has become a natural spot for new homes as growth spreads east from Daphne and Spanish Fort. The 2020 census counted 3,710 residents.
